Women Weaving Dreams

Women Weaving Dreams is a project that seeks to enhance the skills and productive capacity of the beneficiaries and collaborators of the Elsa Rodríguez Torres Civil Association.

The initiative consists of making versatile garments crafted from alpaca fiber, using both machine and hand techniques, carried out by entrepreneurial women in situations of social marginalization, which gives the product human and ethical value.

The project is grounded in principles of sustainability, quality, and respect in every detail, promoting a positive impact on the community and the environment.

Objectives

General Objective

Drive the economic and social empowerment of women in vulnerable situations through sustainable textile production with alpaca fiber.

Specific Objectives

1. Revalue alpaca fiber as a high-quality raw material.
2. Promote slow fashion and responsible production.
3. Generate employment and improve living standards for beneficiaries.
4. Fulfill the social purposes of the Elsa Rodríguez Torres Civil Association.

Results

• Significant increase in workshop participation, with almost 120 new members between 2022 and 2023.
• Creation of two new brands through the MIM (Women Empowering Women) program:
  • AMORA: fine women’s lingerie.
  • LAS PERLAS DE ELI: personalized needle knitting, crochet, and amigurumis.
• More than 60 families served, indirectly benefiting 285 people.
• Social campaigns reached 50 families directly and more than 185 people indirectly, with a total impact of 580 beneficiaries.
• The Family Counseling Center conducted 125 psychosocial support consultations.
• Implementation of the ACERTAR–SERVIR psychoeducational project at Manuel Veramendi e Hidalgo Educational Institution, working with students, parents, and teachers.
